Class Descriptions

 

The Stretch Children’s Fitness Program has been developed by Pediatric Therapists who specialize in developmental movement.  This program is a culmination of nearly two decades of work with children as well as studying with the countries leaders in children’s yoga and dance education.

Stretch Programs are designed to bring a creative and fun yoga inspired fitness class to children of all abilities in a non-competitive environment.  We encourage all children to bring to their unique spirit and light to our classes.  Stretch Children’s Fitness incorporates creative and developmentally appropriate yoga postures, with a multi-sensory approach to exercise and play!

Children will learn to connect their minds, bodies, and hearts through a yoga inspired practice designed for their developmental needs.  Our program will take children on imaginative adventures, teach breathing techniques, and help them to find their inner calm!

 Children of all abilities are welcome!

Classes Offered


Mommy & Me

Join us for an energy boosting yoga inspired class for Mommies (Daddies or Caregivers) & Baby! Come bond with your baby while stretching areas targeted at new moms.  We will introduce a new discussion topic each week, and learn baby stretches, postures and infant massage techniques to relax, soothe, and promote strong developmental skills.
 

Small Miracles

Bring your Tiny Miracle to a music and movement group developed especially for babies and toddlers who were born premature or are NICU graduates.  This program will give you and the child the opportunity to share experiences and spend time with other families. This fun filled 45 min program will include music and movement, massage and stretching techniques, and baby games.  Discussion topics may include; multi-sensory approaches to learning, motor development, oral motor development, and introduction to baby sign language.  Bring a blanket, lotion, and your tiny miracle to move, sing, and play!

All preemies 18 months and under are welcome!
 

Let’s Stretch Together – Toddler Stretch

Mommy / Daddy and Me Yoga Fitness! Toddlers…..Come Stretch, Move, and Shake! Join us for a fun filled 45 minute yoga inspired and movement class designed for toddlers of all abilities.  Children and caregivers will participate in developmentally appropriate activities to build expressive and receptive language, develop strength and coordination, and learn strategies for self-regulation and relaxation.  Families will embark on a magical adventure using a motor-based, multi-sensory approach to learning and playing.  Activities will include children’s yoga inspired postures to improve strength, coordination, balance and flexibility.  Language skills will be facilitated by using songs, pictures, objects, and basic sign language.  The children will participate in sensory activities and enjoy some relaxation time and snuggles with their caregiver. We will stretch, laugh, and play together!

Recommended for Children ages 2 years – 4 years, children of all abilities are welcome to attend!

 

Pre-school Stretch

Bend, Bounce & Bop in this high energy 45 minute class designed specifically for the motor, cognitive and sensory needs of Pre-Schoolers.  Children will stretch and strengthen their bodies through yoga postures and motor activities, build social skills through interactive yoga inspired games, and participate in sensory activities with arts and crafts.  Pre-school Stretch will improve focus and attention by incorporating self-regulation strategies, and breathing techniques into developmentally appropriate yoga inspired games.  Each class will end with calming dream spray and relaxation time!

 

Stretch Kids Fitness and Movement

The Stretch ~ Kids Fitness and Movement Program is designed to bring a creative and fun yoga inspired practice to childrenin a non-competitive environment.  This fun filled 1 hour class will increase strength, flexibility and build self-confidence and self-esteem.  Children will stretch and strengthen their bodies through yoga postures and motor activities, build social skills through interactive yoga inspired games, and participate in sensory based play.  The Stretch Kids Program will improve focus and attention by incorporating self-regulation strategies, and breathing techniques into developmentally appropriate yoga games and activities.  Each class will end with relaxation time that will help them to find their inner calm! 

 

Girl Power Fitness

Ages 8-10 years old

Did you know you have all sorts of superpowers?  Unleash the powers of kindness, joy, happiness, creativity and friendship in this high energy 1 hour class.   Girls will build strength, increase flexibility, and improve balance and coordination in a non-competitive environment.  We encourage each girl to bring their unique spirit and light to their yoga inspired practice.  Girls will practice challenging yoga inspired poses, partner poses, and flowing asanas while building friendships and self-confidence.  Each class will end with a relaxing savasana to take time to thank our brains, our bodies, and our hearts for being so awesome!  Girl Power Journals will be created and incorporated into the classes to journal about all the Superpowers we possess and how to access those powers when we need them!    

 

Girl Power Fitness Therapeutic

Ages 8-10

Our Girl Power Fitness Special Needs class is modified and individualized for girls with special needs.  Bring braces, walkers, wheelchairs or adaptive equipment to stretch!  In addition to our yoga poses, stretching and strengthening activities, Girl Power Fitness Special Needs focuses on building positive self-image, self-confidence and self-esteem.   

 

Stretch Tween & Teen

Stretch Tween & Teen is designed to bring a creative and fun yoga inspired fitness program to tweens & teens of all abilities in a non-competitive environment.  We encourage all students to bring to their unique spirit and light to class.  Tweens and teens will learn to connect their minds, bodies, and hearts through a yoga inspired fitness class designed for their developmental needs.  Our program will focus on developing coping skills,  teach breathing techniques, and help them to find their inner calm!

 

Stretch Fusion

For Adults

Our signature Stretch Fusion class is a physical therapist designed fitness program inspired by yoga, pilates, and traditional dance styles such as ballet barre technique, and jazz.  This hour and 15 minute class will focus on stretching, toning and strengthening while improving flexibility, improving balance, and developing core strength.  Each class will have a relaxation and rejuvenation component to give you time to recharge your mind and spirit!  No experience needed!  All activities will be modified throughout the class for all levels!  Come and Stretch with us!

 

Stretch Silver

For Adults 60+ years old

Our Stretch Silver class is a physical therapist designed fitness program designed for the needs of our “silver stretchers” inspired by yoga, pilates, and traditional dance styles such as ballet barre technique, and jazz.  This hour and 15 minute class will get you moving!  We will focus on stretching, toning and strengthening while improving flexibility, and balance.  Each class will have a relaxation and rejuvenation component to give you time to recharge your mind and spirit!  No experience needed!  All activities will be modified throughout the class for all levels!  Come and Stretch with us!
