Stretch Pediatric Therapy’s Behavioral Evaluation and Intervention Program

A psycho-educational evaluation is a comprehensive evaluation that will uncover factors that may be hindering a student’s cognitive, academic, and socio-emotional functioning. The information gathered and the recommendations made can be shared with other providers working with the child in order to:

  • Provide the information necessary to guide treatment planning for therapies outside of a school setting.

  • Provide the information necessary for, or supplement information gathered by, the school system in order to determine eligibility for special education services in the school setting or develop a 504 plan for the school setting.

  • Provide the information necessary for a medical provider to provide a diagnosis.

A psychoeducational evaluation will not produce a diagnosis on its own.

What Can I Expect?

Depending on which tier of support you wish to receive through Stretch’s Parent Support Program, you can expect some combination of the following services below:

Parent Interview

You will meet 1:1 with your evaluator to discuss your concerns and to gather information about your child’s background and the reasons why you are seeking this evaluation

Individualized Evaluation

An individualized evaluation will be created that is tailored to assessing your child’s specific needs. This may include only psycho-educational testing alone or in conjunction with occupational therapy testing.

Observation

Observations help to improve our clinicians' understanding of your child. An observation in their school, at your home, or a community setting may be recommended.

Individualized Behavioral Plan

Following an assessment to help our clinicians best understand your child, an individualized behavioral plan will be created to help manage challenging behaviors.

Parent Sessions

If you are seeking behavioral support, parent coaching sessions are meetings 1:1 with your child’s clinician in order to help support you as parents in carrying out your child’s behavioral plan.

Child Sessions

Depending on the age and developmental level of your child, they may need to engage in a child coaching session, where they meet 1:1 with their clinician to work on their behavioral plan.

Comprehensive Written Report

All assessments come with a written report outlining the results of your child’s evaluation, including all testing data, and any recommendations.

Feedback Meeting

You will meet 1:1 with your evaluating clinicians in order to review the results of the evaluation, discuss recommendations, and help answer any questions or provide you with next steps.
