Behavioral Expectations in Programs

All programs at Stretch are inclusive for children with developmental, physical, communication, and social emotional challenges. While programs are individualized there are foundational skills needed to attend. Stretch has staff available to provide 1:1 support to a child to help them be the most successful if they are working towards the foundational skills. The cost of the 1:1 will be added to the program tuition. There are many resources that we are happy to work with to help families fund programs and staffing. The staff to student ratios for a program depends on the foundational skills required to participate. We work closely with our therapists to provide support and help the children reach their goals to attend the programs. We are happy to collaborate with all families to help the child realize their full potential.

Stretch Behavior Contract

We understand that hard days happen and it is ok to take a break! In an effort to maintain the safety of children and staff any child who throws objects, hits, kicks, bites, or elopes (runs out of the program space or out of the building) will need to be picked up by a caregiver. We will work with you to put together a plan to help the child return to programming safely and successfully. Please call to discuss what program is best for your child.

At Stretch our goal is for all our friends to feel happy, safe, and calm. We understand that everyone has hard days and sometimes we all have BIG feelings. It is always ok to take a break from the group or ask for a break if you are feeling overwhelmed. To keep everyone feeling happy, safe, and calm there are two rules we all need to follow.

1. I will use kind language with all friends and teachers while at Stretch. If I do not use kind language, I will apologize and take a break from the group to calm down.

2. I will always have a safe body while at Stretch. I will keep my body safe and my friend’s bodies safe.

I understand that if I am having a hard day and hit friends or staff, throw toys or objects, or are using words that are not kind, I will have to leave the group and my parent / grown-up will be called. I will have to go home for the day.

I agree that I will follow Stretch rules and listen to my teachers. I understand that I can talk to my teacher about how I can stay calm and will be able to return to Stretch for the next class.

Drop off and Pick Up

For the safety of all our kids and their families CHILDREN MUST BE ACCOMPANIED BY AN ADULT FOR ALL DROP OFF AND PICK UP. Please be mindful that therapists are working with children and cannot supervise children while in the waiting room. An adult must stay with a child until the therapist / program specialist has greeted them and therapy or programs have started. We appreciate that families are timely for their appointments, however, we do not have staff to supervise children in the lobby if a child arrives early.

The parking lot is extremely busy and we see cars that use the parking lot as a "cut through". NO child will be dismissed from therapy or a program to a car that is parked at the curb. If you pull up to Stretch, an adult must walk the child into the building. We have found children in the lobby, in the building, and on the sidewalk unattended. Please contact your therapist or program specialist directly to discuss any extenuating circumstance.

Children must be escorted into the building and out of the building. No child will be dismissed from Stretch to the parking lot without a responsible adult. (Children over the age of 13yr. may be dismissed from therapy / programs at Stretch only with a signed permission to dismiss form)

Program Attendance

Payment is required the first week of programs. We have integrated our website and we are now accepting on-line payments for programs and events. If you prefer to pay by check or cash please use the code - PAYATSTRETCH to register. Families registered in 2 or more programs use code - FAMILYRATE for 10% off total tuition. If Stretch closes due to unforeseen circumstances (weather etc.) a make up class will be offered. If a program is cancelled due to low enrollment 100% of tuition will be refunded. Tuition will not be refunded if the program is running. Please contact Alicia Berger Harriman directly to discuss extenuating circumstances.

Illness

We are currently "masks optional" at Stretch. As always if your child has a fever, diarrhea, is vomiting, or is generally miserable please stay home! If your child is a "close contact" and the child has tested negative we require the child to wear a mask. Please communicate with your therapist if someone in your home has tested positive. If your child tests positive for COVID they are required to quarantine from Stretch for 5 day AND they are symptom free.

Privacy and Confidentiality

The privacy of our patients, clients and families is our top priority at Stretch. Confidentiality is maintained for all families and children who attend Stretch and therefore, families are required to either join their child in their therapy session or wait in our lobby. (The therapy areas are NOT available for siblings or children to play in before, during or after their sessions / programs.)

To respect the privacy of the children who attend Stretch, pictures and videos are NOT allowed during classes or programs.
